Tyrell was born in Durban in 1982 and resided there until the age of 19 years old. He started a love for music at home whereby his sister and mother were involved with church music.
At the age of 15 years, he started learning music theory, singing in the choir and playing instruments like the recorder, piano and keyboard. He was first exposed to, and trained in classical singing the first 5 years of his musical journey.
In 2004, Tyrell had moved to Welkom and has not looked back since. Tyrell has won 9 singing competitions and some with such with high prestige like the Provincial Vista Spontaan Singing Competition and also took 1st place at the National South African Champions winning the Overall Award and 1st place Trophy handed to him by Amore Vittone.
Tyrell has also received Gold Awards for Talent Africa Nationals and chosen to represent South Africa on 2 occasions.
Tyrell has worked with and shared the stage with various celebrities like Ray Dylan, Lianie May, the late Fredi Nest and many more. The highlight of working with all these great artists was working on features collaborating with his favourite celebrities namely; Lizz Meiring and Abby Lee Miller from Lifetime television show ‘Dance Moms’.
In 2010, Tyrell chased his passion by empowering children and adults to live their musical journey just as he did by starting his own singing school called TLB Singing School. Since then, his school have even presented their own show on Television. They host yearly spectacular shows in the Ernest Oppenheimer Theatre to display their talent.
In 2016, Tyrell created a team to specialize in training on winning competitions and since then, they have won 36 first place titles including winning an international title in New York representing South Africa.
Currently, Tyrell is a presenter on the radio station Goldfm 104.3 and loves every moment of it as he gets to connect with the entire Northern Free State, including the people of Welkom.
He applies his passion for marketing at Riebeeckstad High School and he believes that his journey is only in the beginning stages and has so much more to achieve and looks forward to a bright future.
